About you and background
My name is James Davies, I am 20 years old and I am from Beddau. I studied at Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive before attending Coleg y Cymoedd.

What course did you study at Coleg y Cymoedd?
I studied BTEC Business Studies Level 3 Extended Diploma alongside the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma.

What made you decide to study at Coleg y Cymoedd?
The new facilities on offer at Coleg y Cymoedd played a massive part in my decision to study at the college. The new learning centres and computer facilities on offer at the college attracted me hugely when choosing where to study.

Why did you choose to study this course?
I chose to study this course as I wanted to gain knowledge on the different aspects of business and to get a much better insight as to how the business environment works, as I believed it would benefit me for prospective employment. The variety of units on offer on the course, from Business Communications to Accounts Management, instantly jumped out at me and provided me with a brilliant opportunity to develop my skills needed for the business environment.

What are the benefits of studying at Coleg y Cymoedd?
There are many benefits of studying at Coleg y Cymoedd. I found that all members of staff provided the highest standards of teaching and learning and were always on hand to support, advise and motivate. The College is such a brilliant learning environment and is equipped with the best facilities and resources to enrich learning.

What are you doing now that you have left?
Now that I have left college, I am undertaking a two-year apprenticeship in business administration at Seraph Estates in Cardiff. I am currently working in the Property Management section of the company, which focuses on the general management of properties. After successful completion of the apprenticeship I intend on gaining a permanent position within the company, whilst continuing to broaden my knowledge of Property Management.

How is the course helping you achieve your ambitions?
The course helped me achieve my goal of working in business administration by providing me with a huge amount of confidence and the necessary skills needed to be successful in this career. The opportunities provided on the course, such as working within teams, leading teams, producing and presenting PowerPoint presentations and arranging and managing events helped me develop my communication, leadership and organisational skills which are all vital to my job right now.

How will studying impact on your life?
Studying this course has given me great knowledge on the business environment, which I can now apply during my apprenticeship. The course has helped me achieve my ambition of working in business administration at a fast-growing company, which will further strengthen my knowledge and skills as well as broaden my experience in business. The course has given me greater confidence in working in such an environment and has provided me with excellent career opportunities for the future.

Would you recommend this college and this course to others?
I would definitely recommend both the College and the course to others, especially those who are looking to enter employment after the course. Whilst the college offers high quality library resources including up to date I.T equipment, the course has given me a huge amount of knowledge in working in the business environment and has increased my confidence hugely.
