What course did you study at Coleg y Cymoedd?
I studied Level 3 BTEC National diploma in Sport.
What made you decide to study at Coleg y Cymoedd?
I thought studying a BTEC was a good alternative route to get into university, and I wanted to study sport as it was a subject that I enjoyed. So I saw the Level 3 BTEC national diploma in sport as a golden opportunity to progress academically.
Why did you choose to study this course?
I chose to study this course as I love sport, and the elements of the course looked very interesting. I saw this course as a great stepping stone to progress onto university.
What are the benefits of studying at Coleg y Cymoedd?
It was a local college, which has good facilities and staff.
What do you intend to do next/what are you doing now that you have left?
Since leaving college I progressed onto university where I studied a Foundation Degree in Rugby at the University of South Wales.
I graduated in 2013, then I got a job with Merthyr Sports development, WRU and Cardiff Blues as a community sports coach where I deliver sport sessions to kids of all ages and genders.
I am currently waiting to start a PGCE in September. I am also waiting to apply for a rugby development officer job; hopefully this will help me achieve my ambitions to become a teacher.
How is the course helping you achieve your ambitions?
This course helped me progress onto university and expand my knowledge within sport, and from that I have progressed onto full time work, now awaiting my PGCE to become a PE teacher.
How will studying impact on your life?
Studying in college has helped my career opportunities by getting me into university and higher education, and this will help me achieve my long term goal.
Would you recommend this college/this course to others?
Definitely! This course and tutors were excellent throughout my college experience.
