This programme prepares you for progression to Higher Education to study science. The objective of the course is to provide a supportive and friendly environment to enable you to develop your potential and to prepare you for University-level study, with many past learners going on to gain degrees and other awards.
The course requires a high level of dedication as the work is mostly at Level 3 standard (A Level equivalent). You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
What will I study?
You will study Chemistry, Biology and Physics and 1 Mathematics unit at Level 3. A range of units is studied for each scientific area with practical sessions to enhance understanding of the theory.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by continual assessment. You will also be expected to maintain your course files and all portfolios to the required standards.
Career Opportunities and Progression
After successfully completing this course, you will be able to apply for Honours degree courses in Higher Education in a wide range of Science-related areas or seek employment. It is the learners responsibility to check that the Access Diploma is a suitable progression route for their degree.
