You will be required to purchase Uniform (T Shirt and Trousers), safety boots & safety glasses (approx £55). Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
The course is primarily intended for those who have successfully completed City and Guilds Level 2 and who wish to build a career in the motor trade.
Level 2 Motor Vehicle or equivalent qualification and Level 2 Literacy, or 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English or Welsh and Maths, or equivalent. Plus satisfactory references.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
What will I study?
This vocational course enables you to build on existing knowledge and experience and use a combination of theory and practice to study for the three key units:
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle engine and component faults in workshop environment
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle electrical and component faults in workshop environment
• Diagnose and rectify vehicle transmission and component faults in workshop environment
In addition the course will cover Essential Skills. All learning takes place in the industry, assessed by highly qualified workplace assessors. The course is work placement, which you will need to arrange, and this will give you invaluable hands-on experience.
How will I be assessed?
There is a combination of assessment methods including a workshop-based portfolio developed throughout the year to assess skills gained throughout the course.
