Purchase of steel toe capped boots, overalls and a course text book is required for this course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
This is a one year Level 3 qualification. It is the first year of the two year National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment qualification.
It is aimed at people who would like a professional career in the construction and property industry.
Typical careers include: architectural technician; civil engineering; building surveying; quantity surveying and land surveying. Alongside the Diploma you will also complete the Welsh Baccalaureate which will improve your employability skills.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including Maths and English or successful completion of a Level 2 in Construction. Equivalent vocational experience or qualifications will also be considered
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
What will I study?
During the year you will study six units from the following depending if you follow a construction or building pathway:
Mandatory subjects: Health and Safety in Construction, Sustainable Construction, Mathematics in Construction, Science and Materials in Construction.
The additional two subjects could include the following: Construction Technology, Building Technology, Surveying in Construction.
Studying for the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales 'fits in' with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising. The Welsh Baccalaureate also provides the opportunity to study Essential Skills Wales qualification at an appropriate level.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a programme of both practical and theory based assignments.

On successful completion of this course you may undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.
