Purchase of steel toe capped boots, overalls and a course text book is required for this course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
This is a one year course that follows the successful completion of the National Subsidiary Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment qualification.
It is aimed at people who would like a professional career in the construction and property industry. Typical careers include: architectural technician; civil engineering; building surveying; quantity surveying and land surveying.
You will also complete the final year of your Welsh Baccalaureate which will improve your employability skills.
You will need to have completed a level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction. Equivalent vocational experience or qualifications will also be considered.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
What will I study?
During the year you will study six units which could include the following:-
Building pathway: building surveying & building regulations; project management & science and materials; graphical design & CAD.
Studying for the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales 'fits in' with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising. The Welsh Baccalaureate also provides the opportunity to study Essential Skills Wales qualification at an appropriate level.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a programme of both practical and theory based assignments.
Career Opportunities and Progression
On successful completion of this course you may undertake a full time degree or HND at university. Alternatively you could obtain an apprenticeship and study part-time for an HNC or part-time degree.
