Purchase of steel toe capped boots, overalls and a course text book is required for this course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
This is a one year part-time course. The subsidiary diploma is designed for those who would like to pursue a career in the technical and professional areas of the construction industry for example; Architectural design, Building maintenance & surveying, Quantity surveying, Site Management and Civil engineering.
You will be introduced to the employment opportunities available in the construction industry, enabling you to choose your preferred area of work, and if already in employment, to progress to a more responsible job or prominent position within your chosen field.
You will need 5 GCSEs at grades A*- D including English, Maths and Science or another Level 2 qualification. You will also undertake a formal interview and college devised initial assessment in literacy and numeracy.
What will I study?
The subsidiary Diploma is a part-time course specifically designed for people looking to enhance their careers within the following sectors: Building Maintenance, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, General Practice, and Valuation in a variety of support roles.
The Subsidiary Diploma consists of six modules.
Modules include: site surveying; quantity surveying; site management; sustainable construction
In addition emphasis is also placed on employability skills, such as research skills, team work, presentation skills which are an important part of the course.
How will I be assessed?
Learners will complete a range of practical tasks, written assignments and examinations. Each module is graded with an overall Pass, Merit or Distinction.
