This course will incorporate all the core elements of the Welsh Baccalaureate and will also give you the opportunity to study the Level 3 Diploma in IT. The programme offers you the opportunity to study computing from both theoretical and practical applications.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including Maths and English or a Welsh Baccalaureate with a Level 2 Diploma in Information Technology with at least a pass profile.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
Applicants with appropriate experience who do not necessarily meet the academic qualifications may be considered
What will I study?
You will complete a ninety credit qualification. The subjects include: Communication & Employability Skills for IT; Computer Systems; Information Systems; Programming; Digital Graphics, and Website Production.
Within the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced qualification you will complete four challenges including global citizenship, community, enterprise and employability as well as an individual project.
How will I be assessed?
The Welsh Baccalaureate is assessed via the production of a portfolio of learning and the completion of a substantial project. Assessment is based on the units of study. All units will have internal assessments in the form of assignments and practical work.
Career Opportunities and Progression
On successful completion of this course you have the opportunity to seek employment with your qualification as a Helpdesk or Systems Support Technician.
Alternatively with appropriate grades you can progress onto Higher Education such as a Foundation Degree which may further your employment opportunities.
