Purchase of Materials and/or Kit is required for this course (Studio Fees - £50). Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
The course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in a range of subjects including dance, drama and singing. Students will also learn about the variety of jobs available in the industry.
The course has a practical focus and students will take part in a variety of performance projects including involvement in the college annual pantomime and a production tour around the local community as part of their final project working with our resident theatre company Spectacle Theatre.
4 GCSE’s at grades A*-D preferably including English and Maths or ESW at Level 2, or a Level 1 sector skills qualification.
You may be asked to take part in an audition.
A willingness to participate fully in performance activities is essential. Students who have taken part in school productions or local dance/drama groups would also be well placed to apply.

How will I be assessed?
There is continuous assessment throughout the course for practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated. On successful completion of this qualification an overall grade is given of Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Career Opportunities and Progression
The course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades A-C. Learners who successfully complete the course will be in a position to progress on to the BTEC 90 credit Diploma in Performing Arts. Alternatively students could access a range of courses at Level 3.
