Interactive media is everywhere from Advertising, Animation, Graphic Design, Music Videos, Gaming, Motion Graphics, Web Design and the branding of products and logos all around you.
This course will give you an opportunity to experiment with a variety of techniques relating to this industry and give you a taster of the digital production techniques involved in interactive media.
This 90 credit diploma in Creative Media Production specialising in Interactive Media is a level 3 qualification which is approximately equivalent to 1.5 A levels. The course is combined with the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification to enhance other skills such as; challenges, Communication and Application of Number which are vital for progression in your future careers. All learners will have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English and Maths or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma at merit grade in a creative or IT related subject.
You will be invited to attend an interview. You will also be required to undertake an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
What will I study?
During this year course you will be given the opportunity to experiment with the fundamental areas and develop your key area of interest within interactive media.
The course will be centred on core units in Pre-production techniques, communication skills for creative media, research techniques and understanding the industry
Alongside these areas you will study a variety of units including; graphic design, digital video production, animation, storyboarding, sound recording, web design and computer game graphics.
How will I be assessed?
Throughout the course there will be regular assessments to ensure you are on the right track. This will be given via verbal feedback in lessons and written feedback for portfolio work. All units will be internally assessed by your tutor and externally moderated.
Career Opportunities and Progression
Interactive Media is currently a booming industry and the BTEC level 3 Diploma in Creative Media is the perfect starting point. Following successful completion of this the first year there is an opportunity to study the extended diploma in Creative Media Production (Interactive Media) in year 2. Combined the two year course will equate to 3 A levels on successful completion.
There are a many career opportunities that branch off from Interactive Media and you could become a:
Graphic Designer, Computer Game Designer, Concept Artist, Storyboard Artist, web Designer, 2D and 3D Animators, Advertising, Product Designer, Fashion Promotion, Magazine Layout Artist, Video Special Effects and Digital Illustrator to name just a few.
