This subject is part of the full time A level Programme. To apply for this subject you need to apply for the A Level or Combined Programme A Level Programme - You will need to choose 3 or 4 AS Levels to study the A Level Programme Combined Programme - You will need to choose 1 or 2 AS Levels combined with a vocational option. Vocational options include: Applied Science, IT, Business, Criminology, Law, Sports and Exercise Sciences, or Health and Social Care.

Course Outline

If you consider yourself to be a caring person who likes to look after others, then it is worth considering studying Health and Social Care.

Entry requirements

You will require 5 GCSEs at Grades A*- C

You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.

What will I study?

The course enables you the opportunity to gain essential skills and practical experience, which will prove to be a useful asset within the Health and Social Care sector. The modules covered on this course include:

Developing Effective Communication in Health & Social Care, Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health & Social Care, Health, Safety and Security in Health & Social Care, Nutrition for Health & Social Care, Safeguarding Adults and Promoting Independence and Physiological Disorders.

It is equivalent to 1 A Level and 60 credits (120 UCAS points).

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through coursework.

Successful completion of this course can enable you to pursue a career in a number of areas, including; Nursing homes, Day centres, Hospitals, Occupational therapy departments, Radiography departments, Social care placements, Nurseries, Physiotherapy.
