Sports-related occupations are growing in number as the industry expands and diversifies.
To reflect this the BTEC Sport course is wide ranging in its subject matter and offers you the chance to develop skills and knowledge of areas relating to sport such as the body, fitness, health & safety, leading activities psychology and physical performance.
You will require 5 GCSEs at Grades A*- C including PE, English/Welsh and preferably Science, or equivalent.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
What will I study?
You will cover six areas completing a piece of course work on each. There are no final exams.
The areas are; Anatomy & physiology of fitness, Assessing risks in sport, Fitness testing, Fitness training, Leadership in sport and either individual sports or team sports.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by a mixture of coursework and practical assessments.
Career Opportunities and Progression
On successful completion of this course many learners apply to and are offered places at university in Physical Education or Sports Science or into sport-related employment. For many occupations including the various forces, Physical Education is a well recognised and respected course. Previous learners now include a qualified doctor and several physiotherapists.
