As an employee you will earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job specific skills. You will undertake training towards a nationally recognised qualification. Apprenticeships are open to all learners aged 16-25.

On applying for an apprenticeship you will be invited to attend an interview, and you will also be required to undertake an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.

You will work towards a QCF-NVQ Certificate Level 2 in your chosen vocational area together with a Technical Certificate, Essential Skills Wales and an ERR workbook. You will receive off the job training which may include attendance at college. You will be assigned a work based assessor who will visit you in your workplace and monitor your progress. On completion you will have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Apprenticeship.

You must be aged under 25 to start this programme.

Testimonials

"We have worked with Business and International Services for over 10 years, during which time strong working relationships have been formed and countless members of Santia staff have developed and enhanced their vocational skills.  The training that we receive is always of a very high standard, with solutions tailored to our specific needs and those of our learners"

Cherry Richards, Head of Learning and Development, Santia Consulting Ltd

"We have worked in partnership with the college for many years and they support our apprenticeship programme.  The new campus in Nantgarw provides a place where learning can be fostered and achieving is part of its everyday culture.  The learning opportunities at the college provide many people with the opportunity to develop new skills and trades and further their education.  We are proud to work in partnership with them to develop the workforce of the future."

Rhys Williams, Government & Business Relations Leader, GE Aviation

"The objectives of the training were comprehensively covered and further advice was openly given when required.  Overall a very enjoyable and beneficial course"

Four Construction

The Four Construction Training Group was formed in 2009 on behalf of the local construction industry to provide training throughout the areas of Merthyr Tydfil, RCT, Caerphilly and Bridgend.

The sole purpose is to organise and co-ordinate quality and cost effective training to all members throughout the industry. We aim to enhance the competitiveness of current members and endorse the achievement of industry recognised qualifications as well as promoting the need for training by co-operating with local training providers and authorities.

The group currently has 47 members and has the potential to expand and welcome other like minded organisations.

- To provide a forum within which training and development can be discussed, developed and implemented to the quality and quantity required by the local industry.

- Maintain effective communications with Association members in the way most appropriate to the individual member needs to promote training and development.
