Guests from a variety of organisations and groups were invited to ‘raise a glass’ to the current Aberdare campus; as plans are well underway to leave the Cwmdare Road site and re-locate to the new £22 million campus at Robertstown.
The new campus will open its doors in September 2017, featuring the new ‘Carriages’ restaurant. The new restaurant will provide the Hospitality and Catering learners with 'state of the art' industry standard facilities to complete their training under the close supervision of expert tutors; as they develop their professional skills for their future careers in the Hospitality and Catering industry.
Since its official opening as the Llewellyn Suite in 1992, learners at the campus have provided quality food for the public and a number of organisations who have enjoyed a meal prior to their meeting.
During the week, Afternoon Tea was enjoyed by around 50 customers; showcasing the variety of home- made treats including a variety of sandwiches, sticky toffee cake, summer fruit mousse and welsh cakes; along with a glass or two of bubbly to ‘toast the campus’.
Campus Director, Mark Thomas welcomed the guests and provided them with a brief overview of the new campus. Thanking them for their support over the years he assured them that a warm welcome will await them when the new campus opens later in the year.
Representatives from The Aberdare Rotary, Inner wheel and University of the Third Age Clubs; took the opportunity to thank the college staff and learners for the warm, friendly welcome they receive at the restaurant and the delicious meals they are served. They praised the overall service and looked forward to visiting the new restaurant at the new campus.
