Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

EMA English

EMA is for 16 to 18 year olds living in Wales who want to continue their education after school leaving age.  Subject to eligibility, you could get £30 a week, paid every two weeks.

You will also need to complete a Learning Agreement with the college and have 100% attendance each week to receive your weekly payments.

Welsh Government Learning Grant

WGLg English

This is for students aged 19 or over who are studying a Further Education course at college. Subject to eligibility, you could get up to £1,500 a year.

Financial Contingency Fund (FCF)

The Financial Contingency Fund (FCF) can provide financial help to learners who are experiencing difficulties as a result of low income. In particular, it can help those individuals to pay for nursery fees, examinations, kits and safety equipment for practical courses. Applications forms are available from Learner Services..

All applications are means-tested; evidence of benefits or Working Family Tax Credits will need to be provided. The Financial Contingency Fund prioritises certain categories or payments. These can be seen on the Financial Contingency Fund policy.
