Congratulations!!

Celia Baxter (Faculty Administrator, A Level Centre) has been awarded “Highly Praised” in the Cymraeg Gwaith/Work Welsh Awards 2021, in the category “Best Progress at Entry Level”.

Cymraeg Gwaith/Work Welsh is a national programme throughout Wales, including the Higher & Further Education sectors, and public service employers such as councils and HR companies. 11 Colleges across Wales take part in this programme, including CYC.

Learners have to complete 120 hours of Welsh language learning, via weekly lessons & tutorials, plus independent work.

Celia’s attendance at classes/tutorials has been almost 100%, but where she has especially excelled has been with her level of independent work.

Celia finished Year 2 of the course with a total in excess of 250 hours’ learning – by using the Duolingo Welsh app, BBC Wales podcasts and independent revision.

Consequently she has made phenomenal progress in both her knowledge and use of Welsh in her day-to-day work and life – llongyfarchiadau enfawr, Celia!
