Level 1 City and Guilds Diploma in IT Applications for IT Users; BTEC Level 1 Introductory Certificate in Information Technology, Essential Skills Wales in Communication or Application of Number. Opportunity to sit GCSE in English and Mathematics (Previous Grades dependant).
You will study software applications within the Microsoft Office 365 environment. This would include, but not be limited to: • Collaboration and productivity • Using the internet • Design Software • Multimedia products • IT Presentations • IT Communications (including social media platforms)
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this course as candidates may have no prior experience, though some may have Entry level 3 experience/skills in IT/Computing. We will interview any new learner to ensure that candidates have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualifications successfully.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish support required. At Coleg y Cymoedd we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your assessments. The better your grades the more options you will have and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher-level course.
All learning is undertaken within our modern and well-equipped IT classrooms. You will undertake an assessment in each unit which can be generated through a range of activities, including assignments, role play, practical performance and verbal presentations. You will be expected to work to deadlines and maintain your course files/portfolios to the required standards. With guidance a learner will be able to operate information and communication software or hardware with knowledge and understanding at the relevant level in a variety of topics they undertake.
On successful completion of the course you may be eligible to progress to a Level 2 course such as Level 2: Digital and IT Skills; Access Level 2 Skills for Further Studies.
