Level 3 Pre-Apprenticeship Academy: Electrical Engineering and Digital Technologies (3D Printing, Cyber, Programming and Robotics)

This brand-new course is designed to kick start a career in Industry 4.0 technology. What is Industry 4.0? Industry 4.0 is revolutionising the way companies manufacture, improve and distribute their products. Manufacturers are integrating new technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and analytics, and AI and machine learning into their production facilities and throughout their operations. The course is for people who are interested or wish to pursue a career in that area and can lead to IT Technician work or Electrical Engineering disciplines.


What does the course include? This enhanced course is run over 5 days on campus. As a pre-apprentice you would be expected to go on work placement, external to the college, for at least 25 days. Our Employer Engagement and Work Placement Officer will work with you to source placement opportunities. All full-time learners will be expected to attend skills sessions as well as their chosen vocational course. You will also be asked to attend tutorial sessions as part of your full-time course timetable.

What Will I Learn?

You will study a range of topics including, but not limited to: • Customer Service • Web Development • Networking • Cyber Security • Programming • Preparing and Using Industrial Robots • Assembling and Testing Electronic Circuits • Producing Components by Rapid Prototyping


You will use the following industry standard software • Microsoft Office 365 • Visual Studio • Unity • Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Animate • Microsoft Server 2019 • Circuit Wizard

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Grade C for Maths and English or Level 2 Diploma in ICT or Engineering with at least a Grade C and D in Maths and English.


You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.

Assessment

Timed- Controlled Assessments, Assignments and Portfolios.

Career Progression

Achieving this qualification will allow you to progress to Employment as an IT Technician or an Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering. • IT Technician • Electrical Engineer This will also give you the skills needed to get an apprenticeship and 32 UCAS points. You will also receive £200 worth of tools on full completion of the course.
