The course has been designed in consultation with both representatives from the travel industry and colleges. It aims to cover areas that employers in the travel and tourism sector have identified as needing suitably qualified staff.
You will enjoy a broad range of activities within the course such as visits, guest speakers and use of facilities both on and off site. You will study a variety of units and cover topics such as Worldwide Travel and Tourism Destinations, Work Place Communications, Airports, Airlines, Cabin Crew, Team Working, Customer Services and Package Holidays.
You will require 3 GCSEs at grades A*- E including Maths and English/Welsh, or completion of a full vocational programme at Entry 3 which must also include GCSE Maths/Numeracy & English/Welsh at grades A*-E or equivalent such as Entry 3 ESW Communications and Application of Number.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You must complete a range of written and practical assessments. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. You will receive feedback on your progress throughout the course.
After successfully completing the course and gaining a distinction grade, you may be able to progress to the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Air Cabin Crew or the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
