As part of your course you will study a variety of topics such as; Business of Travel and Tourism, Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector and Customer Service. You will learn through theory and practical sessions to deal effectively with the health, safety and security of air passengers, abnormal, dangerous/emergency situations and passengers' needs.
You will also visit British Airways training ground at Heathrow and take part in practical sessions such as aircraft evacuation, fire training and survival. Survival sessions on water will also take place in a local swimming pool. You will enjoy a broad range of activities within the course such as visits, guest speakers and use of facilities both on and off site.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh, or completion of a full vocational programme at Level 2 which must also include GCSE Maths/Numeracy & English/Welsh at grades A*-C or equivalent such as Level 2 ESW Communications and Application of Number.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
To gain the Level 3 qualification you must complete internal assessments in all units. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. All units are assessed, graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
After successfully completing this course, you could progress to Higher Education or employment in the sector.
