You will study units that reflect the needs of the Hairdressing profession, while further preparing you for a career within this sector you will study aspects of hairdressing to enable you to work as a stylist covering Follow health and safety practice in the salon, Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp, The art of dressing hair, Client consultation for hair services, The art of colouring hair, Working in the hair industry and Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector.
4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Maths and English or Welsh first Language) and relevant work experience, or relevant level 1 qualifications. There is an interview process for this course.
We are looking for learners with a passion for the Hairdressing industry. You will be invited to participate in pre-course guidance activities which will include a course presentation. Relevant uniform and equipment are needed for this course.
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. There are external examinations and Essential Skills portfolios.
On successful completion of this programme you may decide to enter employment as a junior stylist. If you decide to progress onto the Level 3 Hairdressing programme, which is strongly recommended to achieve your full potential for the professional requirements of the Industry; Colour Artist, Media Hairstylist, Cruise Liners Stylist, Salon Owner, Lecturer and Trainer/Assessor.
There is a practical skills assessment as part of the interview process for this course.
