The course encompasses many facets of music with particular emphasis on: Live Music Performance & Rehearsal skills; Music Sequencing and Production; Gwetting Work in Music and Live Sound Recording.
The college has built a formidable reputation for engaging learners in vocationally relevant promotional and marketing activities including our annual Music Festival, “Valleys SoundFest” (http://www.valleyssoundfest.co.uk ), and our Music Technology Youtube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIkoE9Qkvz3dVR_Udz0mD5w). Both serve to highlight exemplary learner work and illustrate the wealth of extra curricula experience offered to prepare learners for employment in the industry. You will also receive tuition in the more traditional aspects of music practice, including: music performance techniques and rehearsal skills to improve your general musicianship.
5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma/Rockschool Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma at merit grade or above in a creative related subject.
You will be invited to attend an audition / interview. You will also be required to undertake an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You will continuously be assessed throughout the course via practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated. On successful completion of this qualification an overall grade is given of Pass, Merit or Distinction.
On successful completion of this course you may be able to progress onto the Rock School Level 3 Extended Diploma For Music Practitioners.
