Our very well-established level 2 & 3 Art and Design provision, both located in our Nantgarw Campus, offer you the opportunity to develop and explore a wide range of skills, and an understanding of the practical applications of Art & Design, with a very strong emphasis on practical work, but theory is still an important area of the course.
Firstly, we offer a one-year Level 2 Diploma, equivalent to 4 GCSE’s. We also offer a two-year Level 3 Extended Diploma course that is an equivalent qualification to 3 A-Level’s and equivalent UCAS points. Both qualifications are awarded and certified by OCR – Oxford & Cambridge, RSA and enable students who successfully complete the course to follow a direct route to a Higher Education course of their choice at College, University or into employment.
4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Maths and English or Welsh first Language), or equivalent level 1 qualifications.
All units are internally assessed and externally moderated, and on successful completion of the qualification an overall grade of pass, merit, or distinction is awarded.
On successful completion of the course at merit grade you are able to apply for Level 3 Diploma courses in Art and Design.
We ask for a studio fee of £80, this covers an art kit and resources associated with the course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
