This is a vocationally related qualification and includes all the required elements to develop your practical skills.
The four mandatory units include the practical and theoretical knowledge required to provide Indian head services and monitoring and maintaining health and safety practices in the salon, to ensure all treatments are carried out with health and safety as a priority. The two remaining mandatory units provide the wider skills required to be a successful therapist of client care and communication in beauty-related industries and promote and sell product s and services. Both of these units address the need for a successful therapist to understand the importance of retail and client care.
This qualification will prepare you for a role as a specialist massage therapist in the hair, beauty or complementary therapy sector in a variety of contexts:
- Complementary therapy clinic
- Beauty salon
- Hair salon
- Independent/mobile/home-based settings
- Day spa or destination spa
This VTCT qualification in Indian head Massage at level 3 will qualify you to become a specialist Indian head massage therapist, allowing you to gather evidence in a realistic or real working environment.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification although it is recommended that you hold GCSEs at grades A*- C or Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent related Level 2/3 qualifications.
We are looking for learners with a passion for the Complementary Therapy industry. You will be invited to participate in pre-course guidance activities which will include a course presentation. Relevant uniform and equipment is needed for this course; a full list will be provided.
Assessment
You will be assessed on your practical skills working with clients, that you may have to provide. You may be involved in promotional/marketing events to gather practical evidence.
There are online examinations linked to your practical knowledge and related anatomy and physiology.
Written or oral questions may also be used to gather evidence of knowledge and understanding.
