Improving the appearance of the hands and feet with manicure and pedicure services, Skincare to improve skin appearance and texture. To further enhance your skills, you will also cover Reception duties which is an important element in learning how to deal with clients and their enquiries, making appointments and answering the telephone in the appropriate manner.

To underpin this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, and you will also develop an understanding of the skills required to support you in the hairdressing and beauty industry such as salon reception duties, working with others, presenting a professional Image and Introduction to the hair and beauty sector. The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in both hairdressing and beauty therapy and will provide you with the foundation for further learning and progression onto the Level 2 of either hairdressing or beauty therapy. What Will I Learn?
You will study; Units that reflect the needs of the Hairdressing and Beauty profession. Employment Standards and Health & Safety, while further preparing you for a career within this sector.
You will also study Essential Skills in Communication & Application of Number and Information Technology. The course contains both theory and practical based lessons with many opportunities to work within a commercial environment.
Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs at Grade E or above (including Maths and English or Welsh first Language), or equivalent Entry level qualifications. There is a practical skills assessment as part of the interview process for this course
Assessment
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. There are external examinations and Essential Skills portfolios or controlled tasks.
Career Progression
On successful completion of this programme, you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Beauty Therapy programme or Level 2 Hairdressing programme. Level 2/3 is strongly recommended to achieve your full potential for the professional requirements of the industry.
