Learners will be studying for the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production. This is a one-year pathway that is designed for learners who are interested in pursuing a creative career specifically within the world of content creation, social media and marketing.
Projects may vary but learners may get the opportunity to create digital marketing in the form of podcasts, posters, trailers, social media short form videos, websites, blogs and vlogs. Whilst completing these projects, learners will produce the work to meet the criteria for the course units below. Course Units - Introduction to creative media methods and skills. - Introduction to production techniques in creative media. - Understanding an audience in creative media production. - Contextual research for creative media production. - Exploring audio production and technology. - Exploring visual production and technology. - Exploring interactive production and technology. - Personal project in creative media production.
4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Maths and English or Welsh first Language), or equivalent level 1 qualifications.
Each unit is assessed based on the specific requirements of specifications distributed by the awarding body and includes a combination of practical, project-based assessment and written planning, research, evaluation and reflection. Projects are designed to focus on developing skills that address the needs of local creative sector employers and industry. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated to ensure National Standards are met.
Career progression in this area and specifically in Wales is really exciting. Content creation is a pathway that can lead to great success as a freelancer or as a personal business. Furthermore, local universities run highly successful courses in creative media production as well as in digital marketing, branding and public relations. There are numerous marketing agencies in Wales, in Cardiff and throughout the UK. Additionally, most businesses will either outsource these needs to digital creative and marketing agencies or will have an in-house marketing team and therefore the progression into a job is highly possible.
