Access Level 2 Skills for Further Study (Science)

The level 2, Skills for Further Study (Science Pathway) is a one year course that offers opportunities for individuals to develop skills in Chemistry, Biology and Physics; as well as enabling individuals to develop core skills in Numeracy, Communication and ICT.

What Will I Learn?

Communication & Study Skills, ICT, Numeracy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Science.




Entry Requirements

An entry assessment will be required If qualifications are older than 3 years or you have no previous qualifications. The assessment will include aspects of literacy and numeracy to determine that you are capable of working at level 2.


An entry assessment will not be required if you have 3 GCSEs grade A*-C to include English Language/Welsh or Maths (within the last 3 years).
A successful interview for all applicants is required.

Assessment

Assessments will take the form of practical assessments, written essays, written reports as well as via oral presentations and discussions. Assessments will be on going throughout the year and will take place at the end of each unit.

Career Progression

This particular Skills for Further Study course helps prepare for study at L3 and enables progression onto both Access to HE and Btec Science courses. The Skills for Further Study Diploma is also valued by a range of employers.
