You will study Biology, Microbiology and Chemistry as your main subjects, with supporting units in Mathematics and Study Skills.
The development of Essential Skills is vital to your development and progression to the world of work. Emphasis is placed on the development of Study Skills and will include essay writing, assignment writing, referencing using the Harvard system and presentation of work using IT. All subjects are divided up into chunks of learning called units, which may be at level 2 i.e. GCSE standard, or level 3 i.e. A level standard.
2 GCSEs grade C to include English Language or Welsh First Language and Maths or Numeracy or successful completion of a Literacy and Numeracy entry assessment. An entry assessment will be required If qualifications are older than 3 years.
You will be assessed by continual assessment, practical skills, essays, projects, workbooks, discussions, and oral presentations with some end-of-unit tests. You will also be expected to maintain your course files and all portfolios to the required standards.
On successful completion of this course, you will be able to apply for Honours degree courses in Higher Education in a wide range of Nursing and Healthcare Professions, or Biological Science and Chemistry Degrees, and courses at a university or higher education institution of your choice or seek employment.
