The Business A level will give you a general introduction to the nature of business, as well as an opportunity to study certain aspects in greater depth and to investigate real businesses such as Apple, Superdry and Coca Cola.
In the AS Level course you will study modules which cover an introduction to business and business functional areas such as Marketing, Accounting, HR, Operations and Economics The second year of the A Level year covers the more analytical strategic management where you will be expected to make connections between different elements of the whole course with topical business scenarios. Extended writing is expected with a more evaluative thought process needed throughout.
You will require 5 GCSEs at Grades A*- C including GCSE Maths and English/Welsh Language
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
You will be assessed by examination with 4 modules in total. Two AS modules counting towards the overall AS qualification in year one and a further two in the second year counting towards the overall A level. You must pass all 4 modules to achieve the full A Level grade.
On successful completion of this course many learners apply to and are offered places at university, particularly business-related courses such as Marketing, Management or HR or those combined with Law or Psychology. Alternatively there are many opportunities in employment especially Modern Apprenticeships.
