The AS Level course involves working in groups and developing practical skills giving you an understanding of the nature of drama and the position of the arts within society.
You will also study a number of dramatic texts, considering themes and issues raised and the structure of the plays and the use of language. You will learn about the technical aspects of theatre and the performance process. The A2 second year, builds on the first year's work, and develops the practical skills and theoretical knowledge further.
You will require 5 GCSEs at Grades A*- C including GCSE Drama or a Merit or above in Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts or where Drama was not sat a Grade C or above in English Language or Literature.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required
You will be assessed through coursework as well as practical and written examinations
On successful completion of this course many leaners go on to study Drama and Theatre at University, sometimes in combination with another subject. Other progression routes include careers in Public Relations, Personnel or Retail

A Level Programme - You will need to choose 3 or 4 AS Levels to study the A Level Programme
Combined Programme - You will need to choose 1 or 2 AS Levels combined with a vocational option. Vocational options include: Applied Science, IT, Business, Criminology, Law, Sports and Exercise Sciences, or Health and Social Care.
