You will study units, which reflect the needs of industry while preparing you for a career within the sector. You will also develop Essential Skills in Communication and Application of Number. The units you may study include: Handle & Store Materials; Work Relationships; Working Platforms; Preparing Materials; Preparing Components; Using Components & Materials.
The course contains both theory and practical bricklaying workshop based lessons with many opportunities to work with hand tools and perform building operations.
You will require 3 GCSEs at grade A*- E which must include English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or successful completion of Construction Skills Entry 3 and working at Entry 3 in Literacy and Numeracy.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
You will be assessed via a range of methods, which will include practical and job knowledge unit tests, external examination and portfolios for Essential Skills.
On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress the Level 2 Diploma. If you gain employment/apprenticeship you will be eligible to study an NVQ 2 in Brickwork.
Purchase of steel toe capped boots, overalls and a course text book is required for this course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
