You will study units that reflect the needs of the catering industry, while further preparing you for a career within this sector.
You will study; Primary aspects of hospitality, Employment Standards, Health & Safety, Customer Service and Essential Skills or a GCSE.
Our Hospitality and Catering courses will give you the skills you need to success within the industry. You will gain hands on experience working within our professional kitchens and restaurants. Our training restaurants are open to the public, this will give you a great opportunity to see what it’s like to work in the industry. When you decide the time is right to look for employment you will already have experience of working within a professional environment.
You will require 3 GCSEs at grades A*- E including English Language/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or a foundation course qualification including Essential Skills at Entry Level 3, as well as a reference from a previous tutor. You may also be asked to complete a practical skills task.
We are looking for learners with a passion for the Hospitality and Catering industry. You will be invited to participate in pre-course guidance activities which will include a course presentation. Relevant uniform and equipment is needed for this course; a full list will be provided. You will be required to undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work.
As you progress, we can guide you towards a higher level course or assist you if you wish to go directly into employment. Whichever path you chose.
