As part of your course you will study a variety of topics such as Public Service Careers, Improving Health and Fitness for Entry into the Uniformed Public Service, Personal Skills for the Public Services, Practical Teamwork in the Public Service and Map Reading Using Ordnance Survey Maps.
3 GCSEs at grades A*- E including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh, or completion of a full vocational programme at Entry 3 which must also include GCSE Maths & English/Welsh at grades A*- E or equivalent such as Entry 3 ESW Communications and Application of Number. Learners on this course need to have satisfactory clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
You will need a suitable reference. You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
To gain the Level 1 in Public Services you must complete internal assessments in all units. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. All units are assessed, graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
After successfully completing the course you may be able to progress to the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services.
