This qualification allows learners to develop the knowledge and skills required for employment and/or career progression in childcare or health settings. It combines both practice units that are assessed within the workplace, with, additional theoretical knowledge.
The practice element of this qualification mirrors that of the Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice qualification. The theoretical aspect provides learners with knowledge of issues related to children’s health, well-being and a broad understanding of health and childcare services. The knowledge, understanding and skills a learner is required to achieve within this qualification build on the content of the Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Core qualification. The main focus is to develop your knowledge and experience in a childcare setting whilst learning the theory in college. Developing holistically to improve and consolidate your skills in a practical environment. You will also study GCSE English Language or Maths
3 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including Maths or Numeracy or English Language or Welsh first Language. ** Childcare A successful DBS check will be a requirement of the course
Assessment will take place in your work placement on your practical skills and you will complete a multiple choice question paper and an exam at college.
After successfully completing the Diploma you may be able to progress to the level 3 Childcare course or employment within the childcare sector.
Learners attending Care and Childcare courses need to purchase a £ 11.00 polo shirt to wear at placement and to pay for a DBS check.
