Over the course of two years, you will study a range of modules relating to various aspects of computing, this will include topics such as:
• Creating Systems to Manage Data
• Computer Games Development
• Digital 2D and 3D Graphics
• Programming
• The Internet of Things
• Website Development
• Using Social Media in Business
• Information Technology Systems
• Cyber Security and Incident Management
• IT Project Management
• IT Service Delivery
• Big Data and Business Analytics
• Software Testing
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including Maths/Numeracy, English Language/Welsh (First Language) and Science or a Level 2 qualification with the appropriate selection of units.
Within the first year of the course, you will complete six units of work. Two of these units will be externally assessed. In the second year of the course there will be an additional seven units of work to complete. Two of these units will be externally assessed.
Completion of the Level 3 Extended Diploma qualifies for UCAS points (equivalent to 3 A’ levels), giving students a wide choice of progression options.
You can go on to university, an apprenticeship or employment and continue to develop your IT career. There is also the opportunity to continue your study within Coleg Y Cymoedd, where we offer Foundation Degrees in both ICT and Games Technology (franchised from USW).
