The primary aim of this award is that on completion, you will have a developing understanding of counselling theory, ethics and practice which prepares you to work in an agency setting as a trainee counsellor. Self-awareness development is a key component of this course and therefore elements of personal disclosure and personal developmental activities are included.
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent, GCSEs at A*- D in English or equivalent qualification plus an ICT qualification or experience in ICT. You will be invited to attend an interview.
Assessment will be continuous throughout the year using various assessment methods including weekly learning reviews, 2 assignments, presentations, skills practical assessments and a written assessment at the end of the academic year.
On successful completion you will have the skills and qualification to use counselling skills competently in a number of environments including the care professions, teaching, youth work, mentoring etc. Learners with both the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and this Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (or equivalents) may progress onto the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
