This course provides a broad basis of study for the electrical engineering sector.
You will study a BTEC L3 AME Award: Health and Safety in the Engineering Environment Communications for Engineering Mathematics for Engineering Technicians Electronic Devices and Circuits Electrical and Electronic Principles in Engineering Electrical Measurement and Test The course would also include the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) which makes full use of electrical/electronic workshops. In the PEO you would study 6 units including: Working Safely in an Engineering Environment • Carrying out Engineering Activities Efficiently and Effectively • Using and Communicating Technical Information • Wiring and Testing Electrical Equipment and Circuits • Assembly and Testing Electronic Circuits • Assembling, Wiring and Testing Electrical Components Mounted in Enclosures
5 GCSE’S A*-C including a B grade in Maths, English Language & Science or a Level 2 qualification with the appropriate selection and grades of units.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required. At Coleg y Cymoedd we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your assessments. The better your grades the more options you will have and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher-level course.
Your knowledge and practical competences will be continually assessed, this will consist of internal and external assessments.
