The core units give learners the essential foundation needed to understand the public services sector. You will study units such as Teamwork, Leadership & Communications, Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Public Services (Exam based), Government and the Protective Services (Exam Based) and Developing Personal Fitness Programmes.
Specialist units provide the learners with a realistic picture of the uniformed public services and the requirements of the functional areas.
5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh, or completion of a full relevant vocational programme at Level 2 with overall merit grade, which must include a pass in the examinations. Level 2 programme must also include GCSE Maths & English/Welsh at grades A*- C or equivalent such as Level 2 Communications and Application of Number.
You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
To gain the Level 3 in Public Services you must complete internal assessments in all units. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work, written questions and examinations. All units are assessed, graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
After successfully completing the course, you will have gained a skill set that will help you with the recruitment process of the protective services or entry into higher education.
