This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty massage therapist including, units covering the following: providing body massage, health and safety, anatomy and physiology and client care.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, and client care. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide relaxing massage treatments using classical Swedish massage movements. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a beauty (massage) therapist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a beauty (Swedish massage) therapist. Career opportunities as a beauty (Swedish massage) therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:
- Working in commercial beauty salons
- Working in a destination and day spas
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
This is VTCT's only stand-alone qualification in Swedish massage therapy at Level 3 and it will qualify you to become a beauty (Swedish massage) therapist.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification although it is recommended that you hold GCSEs at grades A*- C or Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent related Level 2/3 qualifications.
We are looking for learners with a passion for the Complementary Therapy industry. You will be invited to participate in pre-course guidance activities which will include a course presentation. Relevant uniform and equipment is needed for this course; a full list will be provided.
Assessment
You will be assessed on you practical skills on clients, that you may have to provide.
There are online examinations linked to your practical knowledge and related anatomy and physiology.
