Frequently asked questions for Learners  

Access to site (physical access) –  All campuses of Coleg y Cymoedd are closed for Learners. You will not be able to access College sites until further notice.  

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) and Welsh Government Learning Grants payments will not be affected by campus closures. We will also continue to fund free meals for those learners who are eligible, via direct payments. If you have a query that you wish to discuss with a Grants Officer, please use the email - Aberdare (julie.bowen@cymoedd.ac.uk) , Nantgarw (tracey.williams@cymoedd.ac.uk), Rhondda (tracey.milliner@cymoedd.ac.uk) , Ystrad Mynach (jody.williams@cymoedd.ac.uk)

Exams and assessments – All GCSE and A Level exams have been cancelled by Welsh Government.  Updates will be provided to learners affected by all external exams (including vocational) as they become available.  

Free meals – for those learners who have free meals currently, a text message will have been sent to you providing an update. Our welfare team will make contact with you over the next few days to confirm bank details in order for money to be transferred to you. 

Current Applications – If you have already applied and had an interview, your conditional/unconditional offer still stands for the course you have applied for at Coleg y Cymoedd.  

Advice from Welsh Government indicates that GCSE grades may be awarded based on course work and teacher assessments.  Rest assured that our Admissions team will help applicants find a course that matches their results. 

New applications  - We are still welcoming applications for September 2020. To apply for a course, simply visit our courses page, click on a course you are interested in and follow the ‘Apply Now’ button. 

Interviews for applicants – Advice and Guidance interviews will now be conducted via telephone or online.  All current applicants who have not had an interview yet will be contacted via telephone or email to arrange an interview.  

Forgot your password or password expired – if you have forgotten, password has expired or you or wish to reset your password, simply follow the links to SAM http://sam.cymoedd.ac.uk . You will need your password to be active in order to access college resources such as Office 365, Teams, Moodle.
