The course has been designed to provide a clear foundation for progression to a higher level vocational course or employment. You will benefit from a variety of activities designed to bring out the best of your potential. The qualifications aim to develop your skills and knowledge in many areas including Communication Skills, Application of Number and ICT.
What Will I Learn?
You will study a number of units within main subject areas. The mandatory main subject areas include Communication and Study Skills (GCSE English equivalence - B Grade)*; IT and Mathematics, alongside Optional Main Subject areas of Science (GCSE Science equivalence - C Grade)*; Sociology and Health and ESDGC. You will also develop Essential Skills in Communication, Application of Number and ICT.
*Accepted in Welsh Higher Education Establishments only
No formal qualifications are required. You must possess a responsible attitude and determination to enable you to build the skills required for progression to a Level 3 course (e.g. Access/BTEC) in the following year.
You will be invited to attend an interview.
You will be assessed via a range of methods and you will produce portfolios which will be internally moderated and externally moderated by the relevant examination.
