The programme offers you the opportunity to study Computing through theoretical and practical applications.
What Will I Learn?
You will complete a 90 credit diploma qualification. The subjects include:
- Communication & Employability Skills for IT - Computer Systems - Information Systems - Programming - Cascading Style Sheets - Controlling Systems with IT - Digital Graphics - Computer Animation - Project Planning with IT
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C (including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh) or a Level 2 Diploma in Computing/IT with GCSE Maths/Numeracy and GCSE English/Welsh at Grade C or above, or related vocational qualification with suitability experience.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish your learning level and any support requirements. Applicants with appropriate experience who do not necessarily meet the academic qualifications may be considered.
Assessment is based on the units of study. All units will have internal assessments in the form of assignments and practical work.

- On successful completion of this course you have the opportunity to seek employment with your qualification as a Helpdesk or Systems Support Technician. Alternatively, with appropriate grades you can progress onto Higher Education such as a Foundation Degree which may further enhance your employment opportunities.

Electrical and electronics technicians perform a variety of miscellaneous technical support functions to assist with the design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems.
Entrants usually possess GCSEs/S grades, an Intermediate GNVQ/GSVQ Level II or a BTEC/ SQA award. NVQs/SVQs in Servicing Electronic Systems are available at Levels 2 and 3.
