Level 3 Beauty Therapy Course is designed to develop and build upon practical beauty therapy knowledge, understanding and skills gained at Level 2 . The course is focused on producing highly proficient, occupationally competent and professional beauty therapists, providing training for a job ready qualification which is based on National Occupational Standards for Beauty Therapy.
This course is most suited to learners who wish to advance in their profession; to become a fully operational beauty therapist, salon manager or salon owner. Opportunities to progress to Higher Education may also be considered. Additional qualifications may be provided as a package with the beauty therapy qualification to further support and develop professional employment opportunities. Participation in CPD events and courses is also encouraged.
What Will I Learn?
The learner will be able to access opportunities for the development and acquisition of a range of vocationally relevant skills, knowledge and understanding in order to perform an array of professional services, such as:
• face and body electrotherapy for therapeutic and enhancement effects • electrical epilation for permanent hair removal • body massage • additional units relevant to industry
Within this course you will develop a sound knowledge and practice of working in beauty related industries: health and safety; client care and communication, and contributing to the effective running of a beauty therapy business. You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology as relevant to the practical skills learned throughout the course.
You will require a Level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma or equivalent. You will also be required to undertake an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. There are external examinations and Essential Skills portfolios.

Job holders in this unit group plan, organise, direct and co-ordinate the activities and resources of hairdressing salons, beauty treatment and similar establishments.
No formal qualifications are required for entry although entrants usually possess a BTEC/SQA award, an NVQ/SVQ in Hairdressing at Level 3, an apprenticeship and/or relevant experience.
