The Diploma in Creative Media Production is a 1-year, three A Level equivalent course. This course is for those interested in pursuing a career in the Film and TV industries. During the course you will have the chance to try out a variety of production roles including Director, Producer, Cinematographer and Sound Designer before specialising in one area.
You will work to produce documentaries, short films and television dramas, adverts and music videos using industry standard facilities and equipment. All learners will have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud.
What Will I Learn?
The course is made up of nine units - five core units, which everyone takes, and specialist units.
Core Units: Research Techniques for the Media Industries; Pre-Production Techniques for the Media Industries; Production Management Project; Professional Brief and Critical Approaches to Media Products.
Specialised Units include: may include Video Technology; Film Studies; Factual Programme Production for TV; Music Video Production; Advertisement Production for Television; Designing Indents for Television; Stop Motion Animation Production and Video Installation Work.
5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy plus 3 AS-Levels at grade A*- C (one of which is media related) or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma at merit grade or above in a creative related subject.
You will be invited to attend an interview. You will also be required to undertake an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
There is continuous assessment throughout the course for practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated. On successful completion of this qualification an overall grade is given of Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Arts officers, producers and directors assume creative, financial and organisational responsibilities in the production and direction of television and radio programmes, films, stage presentations, content for other media, and the promotion and exhibition of other creative activities.
Entry can be via academic qualifications, BTEC/SQA awards, diplomas or degrees in sector-relevant subjects. Apprenticeships are available at NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in some areas.
