Course Information

This course is suitable for young people who have completed their Level 3 Diploma in Business. The BTEC Extended Diploma in Business is a course which gives you an insight into the working world as well as gaining a qualification equivalent to A Levels.

What Will I Learn?

The Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels. You will gain a broad understanding of business and have an opportunity to apply your learning in a practical way. You will gain confidence through developing independent learning skills and will be able to apply these skills to periods of work experience.

The BTEC units of study include amongst others International Business, Creative Product Promotion, Business Ethics and Accounts. You will extend your existing knowledge from the Level 3 Diploma in Business previously studied. In addition you will undertake a work related qualification.

You will study the Welsh Baccalaureate where you will explore a wide range of areas including Wales, Europe and the World; Work-related Education and Personal and Social Education. As part of the Welsh Baccalaureate you will develop your Essential Skills.

Entry Requirements

Previous achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Business with Merit grade is essential.

You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview you will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.

Assessment

The assessments for the BTEC qualification are based on the units of study. All units will have internal assessments in the form of assignments and practical work. The Welsh Baccalaureate is assessed via the production of a portfolio of learning and the completion of a substantial project.
