Course Information

This is a foundation course in Children's Care leading to a BTEC Diploma in Vocational Studies. Successful completion may enable you to follow a higher-level professional/vocational course at the college. .

What Will I Learn?

The units you will study will include: Introductory units to Childcare and Health & Social Care.

Additional qualifications include the Essential Skills Wales in Communications and Numeracy

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Entry Level 2/3 in Literacy and Numeracy and will be working towards E3 qualifications.

You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.

Your work will be assessed by a range of methods, including portfolios

Description

Primary (and middle school deemed primary) and nursery education teaching professionals plan, organise and provide instruction to children at all levels up to the age of entry into secondary education.

Entry Requirements

Entry is with a first degree that provides QTS (qualified teacher status) or, in Scotland, TQ (teaching qualification); or other relevant degree followed by further postgraduate training (most commonly PGCE – Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education, or, in Scotland, PGDE – Professional Graduate Diploma in Education). Further and higher professional qualifications are required for some teaching posts.
