Course Information

This course provides opportunities to enhance your work skills through a practical skills curriculum.

What Will I Learn?

Following the -practical skills curriculum you will study a Diploma in Vocational Studies, which can include an Introduction to Painting & Decorating, Introduction to Manufacturing/Engineering, Health & Safety in a Workshop and Introduction to Carpentry and Plastering. *At Aberdare only Brickwork and Carpentry are available.

Additional qualifications include the Essential Skills Wales in Communications, Numeracy.

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Entry Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy. Working towards Entry 3 qualifications.

You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.

Assessment

Your work will be assessed by a range of methods, including portfolios and examinations

Description

Production managers and directors in construction direct and co-ordinate resources for the construction and maintenance of civil and structural engineering works including houses, flats, factories, roads and runways, bridges, tunnels and railway works, harbour, dock and marine works and water supply, drainage and sewage works.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-set entry standards. Entry is possible with either a degree or equivalent qualification and/or relevant experience, via apprenticeships or S/NVQs in Management at levels 3 to 5. On-the-job training is provided and professional qualifications are available.
