Course Information

Sports-related occupations are growing in number as the industry expands and diversifies.

To reflect this the BTEC Sport course is wide ranging in its subject matter and offers you the chance to develop skills and knowledge of areas relating to sport such as the body, fitness, health & safety, leading activities psychology and physical performance.

What Will I Learn?

You will cover six areas completing a piece of course work on each. There are no final exams.

The areas are; Anatomy & physiology of fitness, Assessing risks in sport, Fitness testing, Fitness training, Leadership in sport and either individual sports or team sports.

Entry Requirements

You will require 5 GCSEs at Grades A*- C including PE, English/Welsh and preferably Science, or equivalent.

You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.

Assessment

You will be assessed by a mixture of coursework and practical assessments.

Description

Leisure and sports managers organise, direct and co-ordinate the activities and resources required for the provision of sporting, artistic, theatrical and other recreational and amenity services.

Entry Requirements

Both graduate and non-graduate entry is possible. Off- and on-the-job training is provided. NVQs/SVQs in relevant areas are available at Levels 3 and 4. Professional qualifications may also be required for some posts.
