This 1-year course aims to develop a broad range of skills and techniques which will enable you to progress further onto the level 3 qualification in media hair, make-up and special effects.
What Will I Learn?
During this course you will develop a range of skills including:
• Make-up Application • Hair Artistry • Principles of researching, planning and showcasing designs. • Creative make-up artistry
4 GCSE’s at grades A*-D (must include English/Welsh & Mathematics) OR an appropriate Level 1 qualification at Merit grade or above with ESW literacy and numeracy at Level 1 or above. Interview upon application.
Students are required to be assessed under exam conditions as well as continuous assessment for course work.

- The course offers progression opportunities onto the level 3 Diploma in Production Arts Media Makeup. We also offer opportunities to progress into Higher Education at Coleg y Cymoedd via the level 4/5 HND in Creative Production Arts (Make-Up Pathway) and the level 6 BA (Hons) TV and Film: Hair, Make-up and Special Effects (Top up Year). Employment opportunities exist via the ever-expanding Creative sector (TV and Film) within South Wales.

Arts officers, producers and directors assume creative, financial and organisational responsibilities in the production and direction of television and radio programmes, films, stage presentations, content for other media, and the promotion and exhibition of other creative activities.
Entry can be via academic qualifications, BTEC/SQA awards, diplomas or degrees in sector-relevant subjects. Apprenticeships are available at NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in some areas.
