Here at Coleg y Cymoedd we are committed to helping young people aged 16 – 24 with learning difficulties or disabilities to find work by giving them real life work-based experiences.
The course has been designed to be the learner’s final year in education and will provide a fantastic opportunity to transition into the work place. The aim is to help learners secure a place in paid employment at the end of the year, and to offer support beyond the course to search and apply for employment.
What Will I Learn?
On the study programme, you will be given training and support through one day in college with an experienced tutor. Some of the skills you will gain are;
? Health & Safety in the workplace ? Interview skills ? CV writing
? Communication ? Healthy lifestyle ? Personal budgeting ? Job search skills
You must have been studying in Coleg y Cymoedd for at least one year on an Entry Level 2/3 course. This programme is not open to direct applicants.
Be willing to use public transport independently on familiar routes and do travel training to learn new routes if needed. Be able to maintain appropriate behaviour and social skills in the workplace.
Assessment will be carried out by the employer and tutor whist undertaking the placement.
